UPSC Forest Service Exam 2026 Notification out: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the Indian Forest Service Examination (IFoSE) 2026 Notification vide Examination Notice No. 06/2026-IFoSE dated 04 February 2026.
The recruitment will be conducted to fill approximately 80 vacancies in the prestigious Indian Forest Service (IFoS) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Selection will be done through the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026,
followed by IFoS Main Examination and Interview.

UPSC has announced approximately 80 vacancies for the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) through the IFoS Examination 2026.
Yes. Candidates must appear in the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026. The same Prelims is used as the screening test for IFoS.
A Bachelor’s degree with at least one prescribed subject such as Forestry, Agriculture, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology or Engineering.
The age limit is 21 to 32 years as on 01 August 2026. Age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and other eligible categories as per UPSC rules.
Selection is through CSE Prelims, followed by IFoS Main Examination (Written) and Interview / Personality Test.
IFoS officers start with a basic pay of ₹56,100 (Level-10) plus DA and allowances. The highest pay can go up to ₹2,50,000 at the apex level.
